Abstract

A 24-year-old unbooked pregnant woman, G2, P1, L1, at 38 weeks gestation was referred to our hospital in active labour. Ultrasound examination revealed vermian aplasia with a wide communication between the fourth ventricle and a large posterior fossa cyst (Figure A, Figure B). This finding was consistent with a diagnosis of Dandy-Walker malformation, which was seen communicating with a giant occipital meningocele (Figure B, asterisk), measuring approximately 18×14×12 cm, through a defect in the occipital bone. Supratentorial hydrocephalus was also noted.
