Abstract

A rectangular radiating aperture with an H-plane dielectric slab in the centre is considered in this paper. The radiation pattern associated with the dominant LSM 11 mode is examined theoretically and experimentally and the if-plane pattern shaping is studied in detail. Such dielectric loading results in reduced E-plane sidelobe levels and may be utilized to equalize the patterns in the two principal planes.
