Abstract
In this paper, the performance of a jacketed and series Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) system is studied. The fractional-order proportional–integral–derivative (FOPID) controller has been implemented and to achieve better performance, independent control parameters must be tuned. In order to tune these parameters, a novel Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer (MGWO) technique is proposed in this work. This optimally tuned controller parameters enhance the performance of the system and achieves an optimal fitness function. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller, comparisons are made with other techniques. Time-domain characteristics, frequency responses, and robust analysis of the proposed controller are presented. The simulation results justify the superiority of the proposed method by improving the performance of the system.
