Abstract

Two elegantly designed cleft-like dipodal receptors based on amino quinoline scaffolds (AQP &AQM) has been synthesized and characterized by usual spectroscopic data for fluorimetric detection of silver ions in DMSO-H2O (1:1, v/v) solution. The fluorimetry investigations revealed that the inhibition of the Photoinduced Electron Transfer process (PET) and the Intra molecular Charge transfer (ICT) process are accounted as the detection mechanisms. The association constants were obtained as Ka = 1.7 × 104 M−1 for AQP and Ka = 2.02 × 104 M−1 for AQM with silver ions respectively. Also, the limit of detection (LOD) values obtained were appreciably at a lower level of 1.7 × 10-2 µM for AQP and 7.9 × 10-2 µM for AQM. As a practical utility of the receptors, real sample analysis of water, rice flour, banana flower extract were demonstrated along with the E.Coli. cell imaging studies.
