Abstract
This paper describes the application of the complex image concept to the quasi-TEM analysis of multiconductor coplanar waveguides (CPW). Some troubles that arise when this technique is applied to conductor backed structures are addressed and solved. A Galerkin scheme is used to solve the integral equation for the slot electric field in a very efficient manner: The employed basis functions account for edge singularities—so that the Galerkin matrix size is kept small—and lead to quasianalytical expressions for the matrix entries. In this way, we have developed a very fast quasistatic solver for arbitrary CPW geometries that is suitable for CAD purposes. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
