Abstract
The large-distance behaviour of quantum corrections to the gravitational field equations with a cosmological constant term is studied within the formalism of the gauge-invariant Vilkovisky-DeWitt effective action. Implications for a recently proposed Coleman-Weinberg type suppression of the cosmological constant are discussed.
