Abstract
The paper points out to the contribution of quality standard application in all areas of human life. The detailed explanations of terms quality, product and service are given as well. Considering the fact that a result of the transportation activity is a change of the product location - transportation, the paper gives special attention to the service. A focus is also on the term transportation service, as well as the parameters of quality of transportation for passenger and cargo transportation service. In the closing section, the application of quality standards in the Serbian Army will be briefly discussed.
