Abstract

ABSTRACT: The goal of this study is to analyze perception of the degree of implementation of quality management systems based on ISO 9001 standards and information technologies' (ITs') and how these issues influence the dimension of specialization of transactive memory systems (SMTe). The data were obtained through a survey of 130 workers employed in Spanish university service offices. We tested the hypotheses using SMART PLS. The results show a direct and positive relationship of advanced quality management system to SMTe. They do not, however, verify a direct and positive relationships to basic and supportive systems. We also confirm that ITs are directly and positively related to SMTe. Our literature review did not find specific studies related to SMTe. Nor did we find studies that describe the relationship between the SMT and the different levels of quality management systems. Our study thus contributes new data to fill this scholarly gap. Keywords: Information technologies, transactive memory systems, quality management systems, ISO 9001.
