Abstract

This chapter of the book Advances in Synthetic Organic Chemistry is dedicated to an important organic compound, pyrrols. This book mentions various chemical agents, and these are classified by both their functional group type and product utility designation. This kind of classification helps the reader look for a specific agent easily. This chapter uses two US patents and provides a detailed description of both. The first patent outlined in this chapter is 7 azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane and heptene derivatives as cholinergic receptor ligands. The assignee for this patent is University of Virginia and the utility designation is neurotransmitter receptor binding agent. The second patent discussed is colormetric sensor compositions and methods. The assignee for this patent is Board of Regents, University of Texas System, and the utility designation is analytic reagents for detection of fluoride, chloride, and phosphate anions. Besides providing basic information about these two patents, the chapter also outlines certain reactions, derivatives, and experimental details related to pyrrols. In addition, notes and references are mentioned for each patent.
