Abstract

This chapter features an important component of organic chemistry, triazoles. The book Advances in Synthetic Organic Chemistry classifies various chemical agents by both their functional group type and product utility designation. Each chapter takes up one organic compound and discusses it in detail. Various US patents have been refereed to and discussed in the book. This chapter outlines two patents related to triazoles. The first patent discussed is one step synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole carboxylic acids. The assignee of this patent is Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the utility designation is improved method for preparing 1,2,3-triazole carboxylic acid derivatives. The other patent mentioned in the chapter is triazolyl-tetrazinyl-aminotriazine compounds useful in pyrotechnic compositions and process thereof. The assignee for this patent is the United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy and the utility designation is smokeless and low-smoke pyrotechnic compositions. The experimental details are provided in each patent description. Besides this, reactions, derivatives, and notes are provided for additional understanding. The chapter also lists US patents that have been referred to for the content of this chapter.
