Pushing at the edges in uncertain places: Jos Twist in conversation with Bernadette Wren

Abstract

Bernadette Wren is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Systemic Psychotherapist and Trust-wide Head of Psychology, working at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust. Bernadette first worked at the Tavistock GIDS back in the 1990s before leaving to work in a more ‘general’ clinical team and to teach therapists and researchers. Bernadette has also worked at Great Ormond Street hospital with young people with eating problems. Bernadette returned to the GIDS in 2011. The following is an edited version of a conversation between Bernadette and Jos Twist who is also a Clinical Psychologist at the Gender Identity Development Service.
