Abstract

This paper describes the developments of the project about the synthesis of proton conductive BaCe0.9Y0.1O3-δ (BCYO) membrane with thin chemically more stable protective BaZr0,9Y0,1O3- δ (BZYO) layer. Dense pellets of BCYO with good phase purity were synthesized from nanopowders and electrochemical as well as microstructural parameters were characterized. The influence of BCYO membrane microstructure on conductivity and activation energy was studied and best membrane material has been selected. Deposition of protective BZYO layer was performed using 120 kHz ultrasound spray nozzle. Influence of substrate temperature, raw salt concentration, concentration of solvents on the layer characteristics and the thermal treatment program parameters were studied and optimized. Crack-free raw films were prepared. More detailed optimization of thermal treatment program for deposit of the protective layer is in progress and first results are available.
