Abstract
Grains are the staples for many people's diet, and some countries recommend eating more foods made with whole grain. There is no specific recommendation in the UK, but there is robust evidence to support eating three servings of whole grains daily. Established and emerging evidence shows that whole grains can help to prevent some chronic diseases. This article discusses the evidence and provides advice on how health professionals can encourage patients to eat more whole grains.
