Abstract

The increasing upward trend of oil prices and the decreasing future availability of oil are the main incentives to increase the share of nuclear energy in energy procurement. Even if a considerable share of final energy utilization takes place in the form of heat, until now nuclear energy has been utilized in the commercial sense only for production of electricity. However, there are sectors of heat consumption where the heat loads are big and sufficiently concentrated geographically to be considered as applications for nuclear based energy production.
