Abstract

Across the ages and in all countries of the world, mankind emphasis on historical roles, and always expect to get answers from history experience, when the crisis situation occurs. This is from positive attitude of history education, especially for the nation-state history education. Nevertheless, people of Korean society do not appreciate the value and meaning of history, thus leading to weaken history education, sometimes even be excluded. Nowadays history education is no longer a required course in high school of Korea. In order to explore historical facts, restore national identity, and accelerate the future development, Korea government needs to re-examine the way of ancient history education. Also Korea is Lack of maritime historical research especially there is no maritime history education in Korea. This paper confirmed the problem that young people learn nothing about ocean history of Korea in school education process. The author emphasis the improving value of maritime knowledge of new era, and suggest government should be actively involved in maritime research and education. In case of need, maritime history textbook compilation should also be considered.
