Abstract
This article describes the strategies implemented in the improvement of the processes in the management of information and communication technology (ICT) on the “Universidad Nacional de Loja” carried out by the “Unidad de Telecomunicaciones e Informacion” (UTI). First, the analysis of the processes carried out in the management of ICT is narrated. Subsequently, the experiences and best practices of information technology management implemented are described, considering the processes recommended by the Technology Infrastructure Library of Information (ITIL v3). Finally, the results obtained from the process of reengineering in ICT management carried out by the UTI are shown, using free software and open source tools.
