L Peterson and R W Siegel (eds) 1978 Amsterdam: North Holland xviii + 820 pp price $165.25 The proceedings contain a number of excellent reviews followed by contributed papers on the behaviour of point defects in metals including diffusion, configurations, interactions with solute atoms and clustering. Diffusion and point defect interactions with solute atoms are particularly well covered and there have been some exciting developments in the latter topic since the last major conference in the field.
