Abstract
The article discusses numerous problems in the roma national minority in Transcarpathia around the turn of the XX–XXI centuries. At the time of the formation of the multi-structural economy, the public authorities of Ukraine have to help roma ethnos to become firmly on its feet, reborn, find their rightful place in society.

Summary
За даними перепису населення 2001 року їх налічувалося 14 тис. Соціально-демографічне обстеження умов життєдіяльності ромів Закарпаття, проведене на початку 1990-х років, виявило їх фактичну чисельність у понад 20 тис. Осіб, або 1,6 % населення області, що майже на 8 тис. За даними подворових медичних обходів, чисельність ромського населення Закарпаття на початку 2012 року оцінювалася у 39 270 осіб, або 3,1 % населення області.
