Abstract

The article is devoted to the Moscow period of creative life of the sculptor Ivan Petrovich Vitali and his works commissioned by Prince Boris Nikolaevich Yusupov. The tombstone and posthumous sculpture images of commissioner’s father, Prince Nikolay Borisovich Yusupov, were created in 1831–1833 and its history has been reconstructed on the basis of unpublished archival materials. Apart from that the paper interprets the portrait image created by the sculptor, and traces its influence on works of other artists.
