Abstract
This article provides an overview of the main drugs used in the treatment of acute diarrhoea. There is reference to some of the prescribing issues associated with oral rehydration therapy and the use of antimotility agents. Other prescribing issues associated with acute diarrhoea are also discussed. The reader has the opportunity to self-check his/her own knowledge with a pre-reading self-assessment.
