Abstract

In order to improve the in-plane alignment of YBCO films on the {100} textured Ag tape, we examined to prepare the Y2O3 buffer layer on the MgO substrate and {100} Ag tape by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The {n00} texturing of Y2O3 layer on the MgO became predominantly at 680°C and the YBCO films on that layer showed T c(zero) = 90K The YBCO film on the Y2O3 buffered {100} Ag tape was also c-axis oriented and good in-plane alignment, however, the Y2O3 layer was not {n00} oriented. Therefore it did not show good superconducting properties. It indicated that the texturing of Y2O3 was important to obtain high superconducting properties.
