Abstract

This paper is aiming at evaluating the possibility of polycarboxylate-based material used as grinding aid for cement production and studying its influence on cement properties under laboratory condition. Results indicated that polycarboxylate grinding aid (PC-GA) obtained by free radical polymerization can provide almost the same grinding efficiency as Triethanolamine (TEA). Besides, PC-GA can also optimize the particle size distribution and unify the particle size. The SEM result revealed that the effective was attributed to the function that PC-GA reduced the amount of absorbed fine particles on cement thus increased the compact force. What’s more, the employment of PC-GA during grinding process increased the fluidity of cement paste significantly while did no obvious harm to other properties of cement.
