Abstract
Organic fine particles were prepared by the polymerization of reactive intermediates which were generated by excimer laser-induced ablation of solid 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PDA), 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic diimide, and 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride. The particle showed electrical conductivity, which was largely dependent on the laser wavelength; the maximum electrical conductivity was 1.4 × 10 -4 S/cm. The magnetic property of the fine particle prepared by ArF excimer laser from solid PDA changed from diamagnetic to paramagnetic by increasing initial iron content in PDA from 2000 to 2100 ppm. The fine particles comprise extended aromatic moieties and aliphatic portions.
