Abstract

The plating conditions for preparing amorphous Fe-W and Co-W alloys by an electroplating method and some physical properties of the obtained amorphous alloys were investigated. Both of the amorphous alloy films were deposited in a bath with a higher concentration of W and in a condition of higher current density. The obtained amorphous Fe-W and Co-W alloys contained W of 17 − 27 atomic % and of 13 − 21 atomic %, respectively. The crystallization temperature of these amorphous alloys was 800°C in the Fe-W alloy and 650°C in the Co-W alloy, Respectively, these results are showing that these amorphous alloys are very thermally stable. Furthermore, these amorphous alloys indicated a high corrosion resistance against 1 M aqueous H 2 SO 4 , HCl, and HNO 3 solutions.
