Preface

Abstract

The 2019th International Conference on Innovations in Automotive and Aerospace Engineering (ICI2AE 2019) has successfully taken place in Irkutsk, Russia, on May 27 - June 1, 2019. ICI2AE 2019 continues to be a forum mainly for the Commonwealth of Independent States scientific and engineering community, engaged in automotive, locomotive and aerospace engineering and in related research fields. The conference’s key point of interest is to facilitate aggregation and sharing common interests and results for better collaboration in the strategic area of providing novel engineering solutions for transportation and logistics.A distinctive feature of the conference in 2019 was the participation of specialists from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant with scientific and technical papers. They presented new developments and original engineering solutions related to the promising Russian civil aircraft MC-21 for the discussion of the academic community. The participation of the representatives of the Irkut Aircraft Building Corporation gave impetus to a meaningful discussion about the use of modern complex information systems and technologies for automated machining of parts, and a number of other issues. At the end of the discussion, the participants concurred in the opinion that it was extremely meaningful and useful. The conference organizing committee, in turn, decided to make some changes to the format of the event planned for next year in order to further expand the participation of representatives of regional leaders of the aviation and transport industry.Scientists and practitioners, mostly from Russia, submitted over two hundred manuscripts. All the papers were reviewed by the editors and invited reviewers. As a result, the most significant and valuable articles were selected for publication. The volume consists of two issues. The main issue is composed of scientific and technical papers on various automotive and logistics engineering topics, and the additional issue focuses specifically on MC-21 and includes the papers by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant engineers.Finally, we would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to all the members of the ICI2AE 2019 scientific committee for their strenuous efforts. Without their assistance and dedication, it would be impossible to hold the discussion at such a high level and to collect quality papers for compiling the conference proceedings.The staff members of Irkutsk Aviation Plant and Irkutsk National Research Technical University
