Abstract

The trend in manufacturing is moving towards an era of reform. The innovation driven manufacturing is required to revolutionize the conventional high performance oriented manufacturing, which brings new value creation such as mass-customization and innovative products with services. It is essential to develop the predictive control type manufacturing system with self-recognition ability aided by the connected smart in-process and on-machine measuring systems which is integrated by Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical System. The paper introduces the smart in-process and on-machine measuring systems based on integrating different measurement principles and multi-scale data fusion as well as the conventional one using multi-sensor fusion and cooperation.
