Abstract

The urban-rural integration is a development strategy formulated to eliminate the widespread separate urban-rural structure in the field of education and to realize educational equality. It is of great significance to improve the overall quality of education in urban and rural areas. This paper uses the multi-regional discrete population development model in demography to predict the school-age population at the stage of urban and rural compulsory education of China from 2020 to 2035 through MATLAB software programming. According to the prediction, the school-age population of primary and junior high schools in China will start to grow rapidly in 2022 and 2028 respectively, and reach the peaks in 2027 and 2030 respectively. Changes in the school-age population at the stage of compulsory education will affect the allocation of educational resources.
