Abstract

In machining of parts using conventional and unconventional manufacturing processes both material remove rate and surface roughness are considering critical performance parameters that have a direct effect on several mechanical properties of machined parts like friction, wear, light reflection, heat transmission, lubrication, electrical conductivity, etc. Hence this paper presents MRR and Ra of zirconia bio-ceramics during ultrasonic machining (USM) of hexagonal holes. To achieve the desired parameters, the experiment has been planned based on response surface methodology RSM with four USM parameters abrasive grit size, abrasive slurry concentration, power rating, and tool feed rate. Also, the performance of the experimental result is compared with the developed fuzzy models and RSM mathematical models and it indicates that the Fuzzy models provide more accurate prediction compared to the RSM models.
