Abstract

Calculation of multicomponent adsorption equilibrium data from pure gas isotherms is important for selection, design and simulation of temperature swing adsorption and pressure swing adsorption processes. Equilibrium data from binary, ternary and quaternary gas mixtures containing CO2 CO, CH4 and N2 adsorbed on both molecular sieve SA and activated carbon were measured in the pressure range up to 5 MPa. The data were compared to the predictions from a modified heterogeneous IAS model based on the theory of volume filling of micropores, which describes well systems with high selectivity and weak nonidealities at high surface coverage.
