Abstract
Hospital Emergency Departments (EDs) were established to provide medical assistance to patients in states of sudden health threats. When the patient arrives at the Emergency Department, triage is performed, i.e. medical triage. It can be performed by a system doctor, paramedic or system nurse. It involves collecting a medical history and vital parameters, and based on these two criteria, the patient is classified into one of five groups for the urgency of contacting a doctor. The entire system involves the responsibility of the person performing medical triage. Correctly performing medical triage is not only important from a medical point of view, but also minimizes errors, but does not completely exclude them.
