Abstract
The article examines the process of Islamization in the Golden Horde based on materials from Timurid historiography of the first half of the 15 th century. The historical writings of Mu’in al-Din Natanzi, Mirza Ulugbek, Fasikh Ahmad al-Khawafi, and Kamal al-Din Abd al-Razzak Samarkandi and others allow us to research the role of the rulers of Ulus Jochi in the spread of Islam in the Eurasian steppes. Timurid sources note that Berke khan, Uzbek khan, Janibek khan, and Urus khan made the greatest contribution to strengthening the positions of the Muslim faith in a nomadic community.
