Abstract
In this article, the authors analyzed the retrospective of the development of women’s Olympic sports, in particular, the prerequisites for the development of women’s competitions in the 20th century. The analyzed topics are considered through the prism of women’s Olympic sports as one of the ways to develop gender equality. The research presents the complex of factors that influenced the development of women’s Olympic sports. In the final part of the article, the authors analyzed the perspectives for the development of the women’s Olympic movement, and presented the state of the investigated problem in modern realities.
