Abstract

I approach this panel presentation from the context of an Asian-American female biblical scholar writing on the creation of poverty in ancient Israel, with the hope of putting the bible in the service of the eight U.N. Millennium Development Goals to eradicate global poverty. These goals are: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger Achieve Universal Primary Education Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women Reduce Child Mortality Improve Maternal Health Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases Ensure Environmental Sustainability Develop a Global Partnership for Development
