Abstract
Potential of birdwatching tourism in the Caribbean. An analysis of Dominican Republic. Sun andbeach tourism, in resort hotels “all inclusive”, is the main tourism of Dominican Republic. But the touristis changing, and looking for new experiences in contact with nature and local culture. Dominican Republichas potential to design new typologies, complementary to sun and beach tourism, which on the one hand,improve the supply, and on the other hand, leave benefits in local communities. One of these types is theornithological tourism. The objective of this investigation is to analyze the potential of birdwatching tourismin the Dominican Republic, through of a fieldwork, emphasizing the benefits that this tourism can generatein the local community, through of good use of natural resources and birds.
