Abstract

The preservation of the industrial archaeology heritage, particularly architectural buildings, has raised the need to propose new uses for their proper preservation in the last decades. From this point of view, the redesigning of old industrial buildings into museums has been one of the most interesting experiences, the most abundant in the old continent called “site” and archaeological . In some cases, they are architectural and museological interventions that have made the museum institutions into real centers of cultural and economic rehabilitation for urban or rural environment and actively and open on the engines of a growing tourist attraction cultural type those places. In this paper, it will deepen the study of Central Montemartini Rome and the Hydraulic Museum of Murcia Cultural Center, based on three aspects: the history of each building, its new use and functioning as municipal centers.
