Abstract

The possibility of scaling violation in deep inelastic annihilation (DIA) while scaling holds in electroproduction is discussed in the framework of the non-forward Compton amplitude. This difference arises if the asymptotic behaviour of the triple discontinuity of the Compton amplitude is singular in the forward direction. Duality provides some understanding of such a singularity and excludes scaling violation in DIA near threshold.
