Abstract
This article was developed based on master’s research in development. Its objective was to analyze, through a literature review, the state of the art on the implementation of affirmative action policies in Community Higher Education Institutions – ICES. ICES, as they have a legal constitution under private law, are not subject to the same requirements as public higher education institutions and for this reason we sought to verify how much the theme of affirmative actions has been studied within this category of institutions, as a way of confronting institutional and structural racism present in contemporary Brazilian society. The bibliographic review was carried out based on an integrative research on the CAPES theses and dissertations portal for the period from 2019 to 2023. As a result, there was a lack of research on the adoption of affirmative actions in the context of educational institutions community higher education institutions, since the results found are mostly aimed at public institutions, which are obliged to adapt to legislation that deals with the democratization of access to higher education and the plurality of their teaching and technical- administrative staff. It is concluded that the ICES scenario and its relationship with affirmative action policies deserves attention and study, especially so that such policies are not restricted to the public higher education scenario.
