Abstract

Based on the work of Japanese political economists Kozo Uno and Thomas Sekine, this essay develops a levels-of-analysis approach to better deal with the fundamental tensions between abstract theory and concrete history. The aim is not only to develop mediations between abstract and concrete but also to open up Marxian political economy to better interact with feminist theory. The essay illustrates this possibility by using a three-level framework analyzing some of the major connections between capitalism and childcare.
