Abstract

The correct determination of sulphur in petroleum fractions when present in amounts below 10 ppm is often faced with problems. Though the Wickbold combustion is suitable for all types of sulphur, the subsequent titration is not very sharp for small amounts. We have therefore tried a polarographic determination after Wickbold combustion, involving addition of excess barium perchlorate and determination of remaining barium. This ensures an accurate indirect determination of sulphur. 8 4 0 0 g g of sulphur were de1981
