Abstract

The aim of this work is to demonstrate how Plutarch has developed a role of historian when he collected, selected and registered data. Also, to point out how he thought the Spartan history through the biographies of illustrious Spartans i. e. Lycurgus, Lysander, Agesilaus, Agis IV and Cleomenes. In that sense could be identified the sources used by Plutarch in the Spartan biographies as well as the manner Plutarch evaluated the credibility of evidences collected.
