Abstract
Abstract This paper presents the user-friendly plug-and-charge mechanism defined in the ISO/IEC 15118 standard which enables an automatic authentication, authorisation, and billing procedure during the charging process of an electric vehicle. The various certificates, their application in a public key infrastructure as well as the interplay with a clearing house are explained – illustrated using the German joint venture Hubject.
