Abstract

Cover: The cover picture shows the morphological changes on the nanoscopic scale captured after Ar plasma treatments of polyethylene terephthalate substrates and subsequent SiOx coating processes by leading-edge analytical techniques using ultrahigh-resolution FE-SEM. The deterioration in the adhesive and structural properties of SiOx films is dominated by the development of nanoscopic globular polymer protrusions on plasma-treated PET surfaces and a subsequent three-dimensional granular morphology of the oxide films. Further details can be found in the article by J. Yun, S. Lee, T.-S. Bae, Y. Yun, S. Lee, J.-D. Kwon, and G.-H. Lee on page 815.
