Pipe and Tube Steels for Oil and Gas Industry and Thermal Power Plant

Abstract

This article described a review of development of pipe and tube for oil and gas industry and thermal power plant. The example of the development of pipe and tube for thermal power plant concerning the ferritic heat resistant steels, the austenitic heat resistant steels and the Ni-based alloys was described based on the concept of increasing the creep strength. On the other hand, the example of the development of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTGs) for oil and gas industry concerning the low alloy steels, the martensitic stainless steels, the duplex stainless steels, austenitic stainless steels and Ni-based alloys was also described based on the concept of improvement of corrosion resistance in oil and gas environments such as sour environments.
