Abstract

Abstract The piezo-, pyro- and dielectric properties of lanthanum modified lead zirconate titanate (PLZT) ceramics has been investigated as a function of Zr/Ti ratio for 4% La. The pyroelectric coefficients show a minima at the morphotropic phase boundary. The pyroelectric and dielectric properties show different transition temperatures. The transition temperatures from dielectric measurements are fre- quency dependent. A non-linear Curie-Weiss law is observed for all the compositions studied, and also a Debye type relaxation occurs near the transition temperature region. The observed phase transition from ferroelectric phase to paraelectric is discussed in light of the diffuse phase transition.
