Abstract

The new molybdenum-doped lithium zinc phosphate glasses have been synthesized using melt quenching technique. The amorphous nature of prepared samples was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The physical parameters such as density, molar volume, polaron radius, ion concentration, field strength and inter-ionic distance were calculated using appropriate formulae. The fundamental groups were identified using Fourier infrared spectra, which was recorded in the wave number region 400 to 4000 per cm. Using a UV–Visible spectrophotometer, the absorption spectra have been recorded in the wavelength region 200 nm – 1100 nm. The energy band gap values have been evaluated using Tauc plots. Dimitrov and Sakka’s relation used to calculated the index of refraction these glasses. Using appropriate theoretical formulae the parameters like, interaction parameters electronic polarizability and optical basicity was evaluated. Effect of MoO3 properties like physical and optical was discussed.
