Abstract
The empirical study presents the problem of phraseme constructions (PhraCon) in current Germanic and international contrastive phraseological research. The article analyses the phraseme construction Es ist zum + Vinf [!] (substantivised verb infinitive). Es ist zum Heulen / Verzweifeln / Verrücktwerden / Lachen etc. will be focussed on from a contrastive German-Czech perspective with regard to its form and function in the text as well as its translation possibilities. Evidence from the parallel corpus InterCorp of the Czech National Corpus (CNK) will be analysed comparatively.
