Abstract

We propose an optical device to perform the functions of an XOR (exclusive OR) logic gate. We have also presented some experimental results showing the performance of the device. The device consists of two high gain BaTiO3 crystals as its core components. The working principle of the gate is based on the phenomenon of self-pumped phase conjugation and the suppression of it by an ordinarily polarized beam. In this way, the two input channels of the system are not necessary to be coherent.
