Abstract

In this paper, firstly, an in-situ EXAFS study of amorphous Se (a-Se) before, under, and after light illumination is presented, where the first experimental evidence for a change of the coordination number of Se atoms under illumination is given. Secondly, our recent results of pulsed ESR measurements on hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) containing various isotopes are presented, through which spatial relationship between a photo-created dangling bond and near-by H atoms and other impurity atoms is described. Finally, photo-induced metastability is discussed with an emphasis towards the structural randomness, the network connectivity and the electronic structure.
