Abstract

The results of photocatalysed degradation of methyl vinyl ketone (MVK), an industrial pollutant, in aqueous solutions using both suspended titanium dioxide and titanium dioxide immobilized on glass surfaces are presented. The rate of MVK degradation as a function of MVK concentration fits a Langmuir-Hinshelwood equation. Carbon dioxide yield measurements indicate that only partial mineralization occurs in the initial phase of oxidation.
