Abstract

Y2O3: Eu hollow microspheres with average size of 500–600nm have been successfully synthesized via a solvothermal method in the presence of sodium citrate as surfactant followed by a subsequent heat treatment process. High polymer F127(EO106PO70EO106) served as a soft template in the formation of as prepared hollow microspheres. It is found that the pH values and the reaction temperature are two crucial factors in determining the phase, morphology and luminescence properties of the Y2O3: Eu hollow microspheres. Morphology evolution can be achieved by changing the pH and the reaction temperature. The properties of the Eu3+-doped Y2O3: Eu nanocrystals were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, HR-TEM and UV–vis spectroscopy.
